Our Removals FAQ's

The cost of a removal depends predominantly on the amount of space you take up in one of our vehicles, whether or not you require storage and the kind of packing and wrapping service you require.

Our staff are not qualified or insured to disconnect any appliances. These will need to be disconnected in advance of the removal day by yourself or we can, at an additional cost, arrange for a tradesman to attend your property to carry out this task.

We can arrange a quotation through the post, internet or e-mail. However there are many other factors that can affect the cost of your removal and such quotes are fraught with the risk of error, so call our friendly and helpful staff for free advice.

Packing services vary tremendously, depending on what we are packing and how much packing there is to be complete. The only way to get a true and accurate cost is to arrange a free of charge, no-obligation quotation.

Yes, absolutely you can and Braithwaite’s Removals can help you by offering you all the materials required.

It is important to obtain a removal quotation at least four weeks prior to your removal. Many clients leave it too late and find themselves without a removal company because they are all full, especially in the summer and school holidays.

Make sure your boxes are up to the job! They need to be a 2 ply carton ( generally anything from the supermarket wont be up to the job! ) We will supply cartons that are purpose made for moving.

If you struggle to lift then so will everyone else. Use your own towels, clothes, bedding to pack wrap around delicate items! Using your own towels, clothes and bedding will save you space and money!

Like many removal companies, after accepting our quote, we kindly request payment in full at the time of booking once you have a confirmed moving date.

Removal companies are not insured to enter lofts, although we are happy to do so if requested but on the understanding that we are not insured for damage to goods / person / ceilings, and if the loft is not boarded out then our staff have the right to refuse assistance and they would have the backing of the office. Please ensure that if we help that all flooring is boarded out and there is sufficient lighting and ladders for entry.

Unless this was agreed in the quote, all items needing dismantled are expected to be done and ready to move before we arrive. If agreed in the quote, our staff will carry out the dismantling and reassembly as agreed. It is essential that you say what is required at the quotation stage to allow for the necessary time and equipment to be provided.

For a 1 day domestic removal our staff will be with you between 8.00 and 9.00, traffic permitting, in order to have you fully loaded by lunch time. This would allow for vacant possession for the incoming resident in the afternoon. An earlier start can be arranged upon request or if there is a large distance to travel between the two addresses.

Our vehicles range from 20 feet to 40 feet, so depending on the size of the removal we will need between 2 and 4 car spaces. This will give enough space to load from the rear or side of the vehicle (which ever is easier).
